About The Moser Legacy.  

In 1915, L. O. Moser, Sr. opened the L. O. Moser Furniture Company in Lynchburg, Virginia.  ... The company operated at that location until 2005 when it was relocated in its entirety to 27951 County Road 319, Buena Vista, Colorado, by Ron Southard, et. al.   In March of 2021, the shop was dismantled and awaits a new home.

 

Quoting from the 1929 Moser Catalog:
“...we make furniture to the customers’ design and specifications, both period and modern…”

The outstanding achievement of this company has been in ... making the highest quality furniture at a reasonable price, and in retaining that touch of old world charm which lends to peace of mind, joy of living, and good will. …”

 

The L. O. Moser Furniture Company has moved geographically, but we remain very much the same philosophically.

 

Founder and curator, Ron Southard and his wife, Carole,  acquired the L. O. Moser Furniture Company of Lynchburg, Virginia in 2005 and relocated the entire business [with the able assistance of Carole’s son Michael Bentzin, his co-worker Jim Bergstrom, senior draftsman Mac McLendon and his stenographer wife, Kathy] to Buena Vista, Colorado.   Over the next four years, working part time, spare time and off hours, the team [primarily Michael Bentzin and Jim Bergstrom under Southard’s direction] re-assembled and restored the shop to an operating woodworking shop complete with most of the original patterns and samples from 80+ years of furniture production.

 

The preservation and restoration of this 1915 vintage furniture-making company, re-establishment of it’s shop as a furniture-making crafts “living museum" and a classroom for woodworking/furniture-history, and creation of the new company, Moser Legacy Furniture Company, Inc. preserving the founder’s craft philosophy is truly what constitutes  “The Moser Legacy”.
